Obama is far too clever for me to believe his denial. He carefully chose two metaphors for use in close proximity: The pig wearing lipstick (Palin) was immediately followed by an old fish (McCain). He wasn't just taking a swipe at his female rival, he was also using the age of his Presidential rival as a target. I'll freely admit that it was clever; it's something I'd probably do myself if circumstances allowed... but I'll never find myself saying it on a national stage, and that's what gets him in trouble. I simply cannot believe that he didn't consider the possible ramifications of those words.
